Frequently asked questions
How do aerial robotics services work for Browntail?
Good question - in two ways.
Our bespoke robotic arm will perform the majority of ‘reachable’ trimmings this winter 2025, positioned securely at the end of an aerial lift.
For nests that cannot be reached, a drone equipped with a custom clip-and-hold pruner will be deployed to remove remaining nests.
Nests are either incinerated on site in our mobile biochar machine (requires level ground, with firm soil / sand footing able to withstand high heat), or removed to be upcycled to biochar at HQ.
How long does it take, per tree?
Time spent is a function of software, hardware, and operator experience. We appreciate your patience and understanding that this prototype is early in development, and may initially fall short of its targets.
We expect aerial robotic trimming to occur at a slightly slower pace than could be done manually with a pole pruner, but without fatigue. In time, this system will surpass what a person would be able to do on their own.
What areas do you serve?
Headquartered in southern Maine, we are scaling to other states where invasive forest pests present a threat, and expanding our reach globally in support of forest health everywhere.
